Cinco de Mayo -- the day Mexicans celebrate their victory over French forces on May 5, 1862, and the day many American's celebrate Mexican-American culture.

For my friends and I, it's a day we meet up, bar hop (when we were younger), drink tequila, get loud, and celebrate our friendship. Today is no different.

Okay, I have a confession to make. I'm not much of a drinker anymore! Big surprise! That's what old age and a desperation to lead a healthier lifestyle do to you. So, I'll probably have the same glass of wine in my hand all night (might be a short night if I have my way) and go home sober, and maybe (maybe) work on my book. I know I'm not the only anti-social writer out there!

For those of you (lucky!) folks at home, here's a delicious recipe for Champagne Margaritas. why champagne margaritas? Because this is my first recipe (post) and I'm just trying to impress you. Thank me later!

YOU'LL NEED THESE INGREDIENTS

1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
1 ounce silver tequila
1/2 ounce orange liquer (triple sec is my favorite)
2.5 cups of champagne (keep the rest of the bottle because you can never have too much champagne)
A few slices of lime (for the rim)
Salt (for the rim)

DIRECTIONS

Combine lime juice, tequila, and orange liqueur in a large pitcher.
Stir well.
Use the lime slices to coat the rim of champagne flutes, and dip the rims in the salt.
Pour the combination in the the flutes, followed by the champagne.

Later, finish champagne bottle!!
